Marlon Brando (3 aprilie 1924 – 1 iulie 2004) a fost un actor american câştigător al premiului Oscar, recunoscut ca fiind unul dintre cei mai mari actori de film ai secolului 20. S-a făcut remarcat mai ales datorită rolurilor din filmele Un tramvai numit dorinţă şi On the Waterfront, ambele regizate de către Elia Kazan la începutul anilor 1950. Stilul său actoricesc, combinat cu apariţiile sale publice ca outsider al Hollywood-ului anilor 1950 şi 1960, au avut o influenţă majoră asupra generaţiei de actori ce i-au urmat.
Ulterior, în ciuda unui anumite etichete de paria care i-a fost conferită, a interpretat la superlativul absolut, stabilind un nou standard estetic, rolul lui Vito Corleone din primul film din seria lui Francis Ford Coppola închinate unui boss mafiot, Naşul (The Godfather).
Marlon Brando a fost de asemenea un activist social puternic implicat, susţinând mai multe probleme, printre care şi cea a mişcării amerindienilor.
El a fost clasificat pe locul patru într-un clasament al actorilor americani de film ai tuturor timpurilor, întocmit de American Film Institute.
