Biografie:
Fiul actorului James Broderick si al scenaristei Patricia Broderick, Matthew Broderick s-a nascut pe 21 martie 1962 in New York. Este casatorit cu Sarah Jessica Parker din 1997 si au impreuna un copil nascut in 2002.
Broderick s-a apucat initial de actorie la scoala Walden din New York dupa ce a fost indepartat de la aspiratiile sale atletice (fotbalul american) de o accidentare la genunchi. Tatal lui i-a inlesnit debutul pe scena la varsta de 17 ani intr-o productie workshop a piesei On Valentine's Day. Cariera lui Broderick a prins avant atunci cu doua aparitii in proiectele lui Neil Simon: piesa Brighton Beach Memoirs (1982-83), si filmul Max Dugan Returns (1983).
In acelasi an, Broderick si-a facut debutul in film in WarGames; filmul a fost un succes lansandu-l pe Broderick pe marele ecran. Dar abia in 1986, o data cu filmul lui Ferris Bueller, Day Off a castigat statul de vedeta.
In 1996 si-a facut debutul si in regie cu Infinity, care avea la baza un scenariu scris de mama lui.
